Heat Exchange Geyser
From
R48,875.00
A heat exchanger geyser uses ambient heat (from air or solar) to heat water, acting like a "heat magnifier" for significant energy savings, often 60-70% less electricity than traditional elements. It works by transferring heat from a source (like outside air via a heat pump or sun via panels) to water in a tank, using a refrigerant cycle or direct circulation, often integrating with or replacing standard electric geysers for efficiency.

Key Types & Benefits
-
Solar Heat Exchangers:
Use solar collectors to heat water, often with a backup element or integration with existing systems for cloudy days.
-
Benefits:
Drastically reduced electricity bills, lower carbon footprint, suitable for integration with existing systems, and minimal maintenance.
-
Heat Pump Geysers:
Use air-source heat pump technology, extracting heat from the environment, ideal for South African conditions, offering major cost savings.
How it Works (Heat Pump Type)
-
Cycle Repeat:
The refrigerant cools, condenses back to a liquid, passes through an expansion valve, and returns to the evaporator to repeat the process.
-
Heat Absorption:
A fan draws in ambient air (even cool air), which passes over an evaporator coil containing refrigerant, absorbing heat and turning the liquid refrigerant into a gas.
-
Compression:
A compressor increases the gas's pressure and temperature.
-
Heat Transfer:
This hot, high-pressure gas flows to a condenser (another heat exchanger) inside or connected to the geyser tank, transferring its heat to the water.
