www.hvacdirect.co.za
👉 room size, 👉 energy efficiency, and 👉 budget.
That said, for most homes, inverter wall split air conditioners are widely considered the best overall choice. Samsung, Alliance, LG, Kuhl, Avalanche, Carrier, Sinclair, Daikin, Midea.
✅ Why inverter split units are the best choice
Lower electricity costs (crucial with rising Eskom tariffs)
Consistent temperature control (no on/off fluctuations)
Quieter operation – ideal for bedrooms and living areas
Longer lifespan due to reduced compressor strain
At HVAC Direct, inverter systems are typically the most recommended option for residential use because they offer the best balance between performance and long-term savings.
Choosing the right size (very important)
Getting the size wrong will cost you money and comfort.
9,000 – 12,000 BTU → Bedrooms / small rooms
18,000 BTU → Medium living areas
24,000 BTU+ → Large open-plan spaces
👉 HVAC Direct can help you size your unit correctly based on your space, insulation, and layout.

Sizing an air conditioner properly is about matching its cooling capacity to the heat load of your space. If you undersize it, it won’t cool effectively; oversize it, and you’ll waste energy and get poor humidity control. Here’s a practical way to determine the right size:
Here Are some Guidelines:
Aircon size → Room size
9000 BTU → 10 – 15 m² - about 3 × 3 m up to 3 × 5 m
12000 BTU → 15 – 25 m² - about 4 × 4 m up to 5 × 5 m
18000 BTU → 25 – 35 m² - about 5 × 5 m up to 5 × 7 m
24000 BTU → 35 – 50 m² - about 6 × 6 m up to 5 × 10 m
34000 BTU → 50 – 70 m² - about 7 × 7 m up to 7 × 10 m
36000 BTU → 60 – 80 m² - about 8 × 8 m up to 8 × 10 m
